SQUILT stands for Super Quiet Un-Interrupted Listening Time and it is our designated time to study and listen to the Composer and Instrument of the Month.  I have the Composers/Instruments of the Month scheduled over two year segments.  For example, the composer for August/September Year 1 is Bach and the instrument for August/September Year 1 is the Organ.

I have four different units for each composer/instrument of the month.  They are by grouped by grade level (Pre-K/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th) so, if a students spends Pre-K-6th grade at my school, they have experienced a composer 4 times with graduated difficulty.  They get a sampling of the composer’s major works as well as examples of major instruments.  Of course, it’s still a work in progress (as everything seems to be….sheesh….) but I’ll share as soon as it’s ready for sharing. 🙂

These boards below are videos that correspond with the composers for each year.
